Biography

 

In 2024, Jenine completed 18 years working as a mental health Counselor. Jenine Lemons earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, graduated with honors from Bennett College, and served as a National Institutes of Health Scholar (studying predictors of prejudice in Wollongong, Australia). While pursuing her undergraduate studies, Jenine worked as an AmeriCorps pioneer volunteer, providing after school tutoring support for the Black Child Development Institute in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Jenine is a critical thinker who likes to examine the unexamined, and to help those in need whenever possible. It’s no wonder that Jenine’s passion for service led her to join the Peace Corps in 1998 as a youth and family at-risk volunteer in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. During her service in Ecuador, Jenine started more than fourteen community gardens and taught environmental education. Additionally, Jenine gained her fluency in Spanish.

After returning to the United States from the Peace Corps, Jenine earned a master’s degree in counseling at Clark Atlanta University. Jenine later provided counseling services at: Atlanta Mission; Family Uplift, Inc.; Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services; The Clinic for Education, Treatment, and Prevention of Addiction; Dekalb County Community Service Board; Genesis Christian Counseling Center, Family Ties, Inc., and Catholic Charities. Jenine has also served as Interim Director of Behavioral Health at Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic in Dallas, Texas.

Jenine is licensed as a Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas , a National Board Certified Counselor, Certified in Mindfulness practice, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing trained, Rational living therapy trained, Team- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy trained, Anger Management certified, Trauma focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy trained, and Certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Jenine holds professional counseling licenses in the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas.






Jenine Lemons is also licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas.
